04 Feb Cooper Mediation Guest Lecturers at Straus Institute For Dispute Resolution’s Advanced Mediation Course
Cooper Mediation Inc. would like to extend a giant thank you to Professor Steven Rottman and Professor Steven Paul for inviting the CMI team to the beautiful Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA) to be guest lecturers in their “Advanced Mediation” course offered at the world renowned Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.
This intensive course took a deep dive into “the art” of mediation by exploring the psychology of conflict and negotiation, behavioural economics and the practical skills required to manage conflict in both law and life. The group explored the various roles that mediators can play as needed – facilitator, coach, evaluator, therapist, resource, sounding board, confidante, problem solver, negotiation consultant, process architect and designer of opportunity.
Vance, Jon and Logan were thrilled to be able to provide the class with practical insight into how these concepts and skills play a role in the day-to-day workings of their commercial mediation practices.
